The DRM-1 (12KHz) downconverter
opens up the exciting world of IF DSP processing to ANY 455KHz IF
equipped receiver. The DRM-1 down converts the 455KHz output to 12KHz,
suitable for DSP processing using your PC's sound card. The DRM-1
is a premium engineered downconverter, featuring crystal controlled
operation for drift-free response. It is 100% American designed and
manufactured.
With the DRM-1 you can take the 455KHz BNC output of your high-end
receiver such as the Ten-Tec RX-340 or the Racal 6790/GM and directly
feed the sound card of your PC. This direct connection gives you a
superior Signal-To-Noise ratio for further processing with the software
of your choice. The advantages of sound card DSP processing is of
particular note to owners of older "super" receivers with a limited
selection of mechanical filters, such as the Racal, Harris etc.
Now you can enjoy unlimited DSP bandwidths, new digital modes and
digital shortwave reception (i.e. DRM - Digital Radio Mondiale), using
any one of the dozens of DSP programs on the market, many of them free.
Any purchaser of the DRM-1 is entitled to a free copy of the Dream DRM
digital shortwave decoding software, provided in a convenient
one-button installer by DXtra (http://www.dxtra.com).
DXtra paid the DRM consortium a licensing fee for the rights to
distribute the Dream software. Although largely open-source the Dream
software, does contain proprietary audio codecs.
The DRM-1 comes equipped for
out of the box use. It provides a BNC connection to your receiver, a
wall wart power supply, and a standard PC sound card output plug. The
IF input level and the 12KHz out level are internally adjustable for
easy interfacing with your receiver and computer. Note that the DRM-1
will work with the new low-cost C. Crane CCRadio-SW IF output jack.

A Tube
Shield Interface is available for use with vintage
receivers.
Simply put the interface on the last IF amplifier tube. The tubes must
be the miniature type. The IF signal is capacitively coupled from the
tube to the tube shield, and to the DRM-1.
